Lin Manuel-Miranda  I come from a family who loves broadway shows. I have grown up listening to major broadway hits and seeing shows whenever they travel to Little Rock. When I visited New York in 2016, the broadway musical Hamilton , written by Lin Manuel-Miranda,   was advertised everywhere. Of course, I heard of the musical and heard terrific reviews, but we did not get to see it in New York. In 2020, I finally got to watch Hamilton  when it was put on Disney Plus . After watching it for the first time, my entire family immediately fell in love with it. Since then, we have closely followed Lin Manuel-Miranda's work. I have also taken notice of his genius marketing strategies, not only for his work but for himself.  Hamilton's Success When Hamilton first became a success, I had never heard so many people, who were not familiar with theater, talk so much about a musical. Music from the cast album  went viral on Tiktok , and people talked about it al...

Position Paper #3 - Higher Education

Auburn University When choosing a college to attend, I did not look far from Southern Arkansas University. After all, it is in my hometown, both of my parents attended the university, and my dad teaches courses on campus. Because I did not consider other colleges, I wanted to research universities that I would be interested in attending, other than SAU. Looking back, I received many emails from different universities during my senior year of high school. Notably, many of these emails were from schools located in Arkansas; however, I wanted to research a college out of state. I also wanted to discuss a university with which I was semi-familiar. With these things considered, I decided that I wanted to discuss Auburn University  in Auburn, Alabama. My dad attended Auburn University for graduate school; because of this, I got to drive through and look at the school when we visited one of his professors. I loved the campus and thought that the town was beautiful; however, I did not see ...

Position Paper #2 - Breaches of Ethics

5-Hour Energy Many people I know, including myself, find themselves studying late at night or driving long distances, unable to stay awake. Although it can be unhealthy, I will drink an energy drink, such as a Bang or a Monster, to not fall asleep. Growing up, I remember my dad drinking a  5-Hour Energy  on road trips so that he could stay awake while driving. Because of this memory, I was surprised to learn that the company that sells 5-Hour Energy,  Living Essentials LLC , used  unethical and deceptive advertising practices to sell its product.  In 2014, a lawsuit was filed against Living Essentials LLC by Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson due to deceptive advertising for the company's 5-Hour Energy Drink. The drink was advertised as a doctor-recommended product "superior to traditional caffeine without a crash." The company claimed that 5-Hour energy was a "Combination of caffeine, B vitamins, and amino acids that would provide energy that w...

Position Paper #1 - Crisis Public Relations

Marana High School Social media plays a big part in a company, organization, or individual's public image in our society. When something is "trending" on the internet, it will cause publicity for the involved party. It only takes one "post," "share," "like," or "send" to determine how you are seen in the public eye. Sometimes the publicity is beneficial, or in some cases, a significant mistake or accusation will negatively impact the individual or party involved.  In Tucson, Arizona, the Marana Unified School District has been facing negative publicity, not only locally but nationally. When scrolling through TikTok, I came across a video of high school students protesting and shouting, "we want justice, and we want it now." According to related TikTok videos, the students have claimed that the district has not done enough regarding alleged sexual assault allegations.  When rumors of the protest came to light, the schoo...
